Our goal is to bring the culinary diversity of Tunisia—and all of North Africa—to life in Switzerland. With our products, we aim to create an authentic Oriental experience that evokes warm summer days, the aroma of bustling spice markets, and heartfelt hospitality. By doing so, we want to support tourism and help make Tunisia an attractive travel destination once again. And since love is said to go through the stomach, our first step is to introduce the richness and variety of Tunisian cuisine to Swiss homes, sourcing directly from small producers and farmers.

Stands for exceptional quality and handpicked products sourced from Tunisia. We import and also produce certain products ourselves, such as our handcrafted Date Liqueur, which we make in Thun. deBabi is the expert when it comes to Tunisia and Switzerland.

How It All Began

Year after year, we find ourselves drawn back to Tunisia—each time, just as fascinated as before. This country, only a two-hour flight from Switzerland, feels like an entirely different world. A paradise on the northern edge of Africa, right off the Italian coast, that couldn’t be more diverse in its culture, cuisine, and landscapes. A place to leave the European daily grind behind—a sanctuary for the senses.

As we traveled through North Africa’s rich culinary world, the desire grew to bring a piece of this vibrant flavor back home and share it with others. The spark? A lively night nearly two years ago—spent in the best company, alongside the most talented liqueur maker we know.

For months, we experimented tirelessly, refining the perfect recipe. We worked with Tunisian dates, ripened under the Saharan sun and kissed by the fresh Mediterranean breeze. And then, the moment arrived: our first product was born—the Date Liqueur, or as we affectionately call it, “Dates.”

This liquid masterpiece combines Swiss precision with the rich, nutty aroma of Tunisian dates, whose natural sweetness reflects the warm climate and unique terroir. From the very first sip, we knew: this was something special.

Our first 80 bottles, crafted with love and personally shared with family and friends, marked the beginning of a vision. Today, we bring this exceptional delight to you—inviting you to embark on a journey of flavor with every sip.
